About the Paris Arts and Crafts Tour

The Paris Arts and Crafts Tour puts a strong focus on a fairly overlooked aspect of a city: the numerous craft artisans settled in former rural courtyards, converted warehouses or new dedicated spaces.

Magic in the Backyards

Often hidden and far from the bustle of the streets, these havens of peace are where the Paris Arts and Crafts magic operates. You’ll be able to meet those who perpetuate the historic artisanal and social spirit of the former Parisian outskirts a.k.a. les Faubourgs.

An Ode to the Hand of Man

Whether they work with stone, metal, wood, ink, paint, textiles or leather, craftspeople and artists form fascinating communities, bridges between history and modernity. My personal view is that, with the advent of artificial intelligence, they are a necessary reminder that human gestures, instinct and creativity are essential to our society.

Traces of the Past

Get ready to push open the doors of old warehouses and artisan residences that have retained their rustic charm, and possibly to walk on a good amount of cobblestones!

Of course, the presence of these studios is often tied to the history of the neighborhoods and their sociology—past and present. On our way to reach each place of interest, we’ll then try to notice the main characteristics of the surroundings through the architecture, the layout, the people, the food and even the presence—or not—of an activist spirit.

Depending on the events, this themed tour might lead us to the likes of Belleville, Butte Aux Cailles , Montmartre and many more districts!

Options

To finish off with a drink, a combined ticket (walk + bar) will sometimes be available, depending on the days when this special tour is organized. N.B.: Participants stay responsible for their drinks / public transport might be needed to reach the bar.

Occasionally, a special combined ticket (walk + jazz bar) will allow you to attend a great jazz gig in a warm but hip bistro, where locals, tourists, young people and seniors mingle to appreciate fantastic musicians.
